Group B3

Neuromorphic smart sensing system for sound perception

In B3 a smart sensor system for auditory signals will be developed, providing pre-processing of information at the sensor level and adaptation to the actual hearing environment. The desired nonlinear dynamics of the MEMS sensors arising from internal coupling and nonlinear feedback mechanisms will be tuned by a suitably designed controller to achieve dynamical manipulation. We intend to use local learning rules and mechanical memory to adapt the global system dynamics for optimal sensing parameters and will consider adaptive and learning-based (nonlinear) control concepts. Implementation will include memristive coupling (from project C1) and nonlinear MEMS cantilevers (from project C7).
