Group C3

Dynamic memristive networks based on near-field optics and plasmonic nanostructures

In project C3, the topology of self-organized and genetically predetermined connections in biological, neural networks is to be technically replicated and analyzed with regard to the dynamic behavior. Networks of metal nanoparticles emulate local synaptic connections by means of plasmonic stimulated memristive switching. The dynamic formation of metallic connection wires by photocatalysis from liquid solutions is investigated as an approach to mimic the growth of axons. Nanooptical template substrates serve as two-dimensional, technical network blueprints.
